Drums in Traditional and Modern China

Had I been alive during the Bronze Age (2000 – 700 BC), I have serious doubt what had happened to me the use of a crocodile skin to make drums. In fact, I think it would have avoided going alligators anywhere near full. Fortunately for the Chinese culture, ancient Chinese obviously did not talk about my fears. Drums first known in China date from 4-6000 years under the Shang Dynasty (c.1600 – C.1100 a. C.) and were made of clay and (you guessed it) crocodile. Thank you for the early innovators, China has a long and proud tradition of using drums and other percussion instruments in Aboriginal music.

Chinese drums have come a long way since the first instruments of the Shang Dynasty. Have been incorporated into a variety of facets of the company during centuries, including religion, agriculture, war and, of course, entertainment. In China, red has always been associated with power and luck, and therefore red drum have been used as a symbol and bearer of power to the rulers and armies. These instruments still used in ceremonies such as weddings and other festivities.

China is generally credited with bringing drums to the peoples of Korea and Japan. famous Japanese taiko drums, for example, are regarded as the result of Chinese influence early. The same can be said Greyhound Kakko Korea and Japan, which are the hourglass drum in the form of thought which have descended from the Chinese Jiegu. Curiously, while the drum is no longer used China, parents can still be seen and heard, both in Korea and Japan.

In modern China, the drums are commonly used in secular shows as often striking effect. At no time was it more evident than the recent opening ceremony of Games Beijing Olympics, which included a number of synchronized drummers in a tour de force of percussion and artistic representation. None of those who watched ceremony could doubt the importance of drums in the Chinese culture.

If you attend a show modern Chinese orchestra, the drums are required to be obvious. The paigu is a set of seven small, tuned drums, and is often used in professional music groups. instruments percussion, including drums of all fields and sizes, are also common. Another place to see and hear the drums in a traditional Chinese lion dance, a form of traditional dance where the performers are dressed as lions and mimic the movements of animals. These dances can be done in fashion north or south, the first being the traditional imperial style, the latter only for entertainment. Both, however, uses the music of the drum set during implemented. The lion dance also has close links with the martial art of Kung Fu, which means that the battery is also often used in the arts performance and martial. The music of the drums in one of these actions is strong and vital, in accordance with the dancers and movement artists.

How the Olympic rings from pixie dust work?

At the opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics after the drums and fireworks Olympic rings were made of "dust" and then magically rose from the ground to the air, someone How knows? What was done? Because he was intrigued.

I work in the theater industry and my theory technology behind the "magic rings" is as follows: The powder particles have been projected on the floor of the stadium lights. In its place has were the five Olympic rings (off and invisible in the ground), obtained from a transparent screen with a bunch of small lights. dust Once started, the planned merger of the way, the Olympic rings have been drawn. Once the rings were formed, there is the use cables.
